Everyday Photography

I had a very enjoyable two days last week leading a workshop titled “Everyday Photography”, as part of the 1000 Islands Summer School of the Arts program. Of course, everyday photography means different things to different people, but the focus (sorry) of the course was to identify interesting things to shoot, and how to present them — or what are commonly known as the elements and principles of art.


We went hunting for lines, shapes and colours, etc., and looked at ways to make the best possible images through composition. We were lucky with the weather, and since nobody but me was from Brockville, I was able to introduce them to the wonders of Canada’s first railway tunnel.
