St. Vincent de Paul Hospital, Brockville

From 1892 until December of 2020 there has been a hospital on Garden Street in Brockville. Founded by the Sisters of Providence, it became part of Brockville General Hospital in 2006, and closed in 2020, to be replaced by affordable seniors’ housing.

January 2021 — before demolition started.

The original nurses’ residence, built in 1924, was first to be demolished, and you can see the hollow clay blocks used in construction at the time.

The building will be taken down in stages until only the foundations remain, which apparently, they plan to re-use.
